The Campus of the United Lisbon International School is located at Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa no 9, next to the Park of Nations and a mere 15-minute drive from the Marquês de Pombal roundabout. It is the largest international school campus in central Lisbon and creates a safe, spacious and green learning environment in urban Lisbon.
The completely renovated and newly built facilities provides a state-of-the-art learning environment – natural outdoor areas and sports facilities within an urban setting.
The first phase of ULIS involved totally remodeling and renovating the interior of a former university building to create more than 7’500 sqm of transparent and open learning spaces that seamlessly integrate technology and align with the 21st century pedagogy of the school. The large and light classrooms are connected to central learning hubs, which give room for various forms of collaborative and self-guided learning.
The library/ auditorium space in the main building, designed as an open space research center, allows students not only to indulge in the pleasure of reading, but also put on music and theatre performances in the auditorium. Modern science labs, art rooms and a large maker space area allow for applied and project-based learning with a focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) subjects.
All learning spaces help students to obtain relevant skills for the 21st century and beyond. In addition to facilitating delivery of the required curriculum, they also foster the development of an entrepreneurial and creative mindset by encouraging students to explore their own interests, providing hands on learning opportunities, and instigating critical thinking skills and self-confidence.
A further 7,300 sqm of classrooms, lounges, labs, indoor sports facilities and 250-seater auditorium are currently being renovated/ newly built in the former Philips factory building used for manufacturing electronic items from the 1950s.
